Roommates & Surpurise

I had three roommates, two girls from China and a girl from Hong Kong. The time we spent together was so short but we got along well and are good friends. They told me some Cantonese and Mandarin but I found it difficult to remember and pronounce them.

At the beginning of August, we planned to make a cake for our host mum's birthday and kept it as a secret until her birthday. We told our host parents that we were going to use the kitchen to cook for our friend. When we started to make it, our host mum showed up and started to help us because we were struggling to make it and were too noisy. Thanks to our host mum, we made the cake.
After the dinner time, we ran to the kitchen and put some strawberries and candles. Our host mum was surprised at the cake and looked happy with it.

Whale Watching

I went whale watching with my friend on the 16th of August in Gold Coast. I got up in the very early morning and took  a train to go there. It was about for 3 hours sailing and we saw many whales. They looked like greeting us by smacking its tail forcefully on the surface the water Humpbacks produced loud clapping sounds with big splash. It is called 'Tail Slap' and they disappeared somewhere. Humpback Whales have two blow holes, one for each lung. As the whale broke the surface of the water it exhaled and produced a long cloud of vapour. It was a first time for me to see whales with a short distance so we were impressed. People there told us that they also see dolphins and killer whales.

Trip to Melbourne

I went to Melbourne in a session break with my friends for 4 days. The weather was clouded almost all days and was much colder than here in Brisbane even though we brought a warm coat we all felt still cold. We strolled around the city and shopped a lot. I was so surprised that all shops have a large scale compare to Brisbane. Our friends who live in Melbourne took us to many places though our trip. We went to
Hosier Lone on the send day. It is a street art and  is a small cut through between Flinders Street and Flinders Lane, filled with regularly changing graffiti and a series of light boxes that exhibit the work of up and coming contemporary artists. We also went to Lindt chocolate store and bought lots of chocolate because this shop is only in Melbourne or in Sydney.
     At Queen Victoria Market

We found an insect on my friend's bed on the first day so we told about it to a hotel staff and he suggested us to move to a bigger room. The new room was very comfortable to stay.
We walked a lot in the daytime so we were very tired when we came back the hotel.

I had very nice meals and deserts there and good shopping.  I want to go to Melbourne again before I go back and hopefully visit Great Ocean Road.
